FU The Ultimate Shiraz 2019

FU The Ultimate Shiraz 2019 is the pinnacle expression of the FU Shiraz house style — a limited, one-off release housed in an elevated, hand-finished presentation with an iconic gold print label design that sets it apart from the rest of the range. Where the standard FU Shiraz delivers bold, hedonistic drinking, The Ultimate takes the same Barossa Valley DNA and pushes it further in fruit selection, barrel treatment and packaging craftsmanship, making it as much a collector's piece as it is a wine to drink.

In the glass it is almost opaque, a deep black core edged with crimson, signalling the concentration and power within. The nose unfurls slowly, revealing waves of blackberry and plum liqueur lifted by white pepper spice, before darker layers of leather saddle, roasted coffee, smoked meat and dark chocolate emerge — hinting at the secondary complexity this wine will build with age.

The palate is powerful yet meticulously composed, driven by old-vine Barossa Shiraz fruit that delivers immense richness without sacrificing harmony. Luxurious fruit weight is wrapped in velvety tannins and seamlessly integrated oak, with a minimal-intervention winemaking approach allowing the fruit purity to shine while maintaining structural integrity. Flavours of blackberry compote, cocoa, espresso, earth and subtle savoury undertones coat the palate through to a long, persistent finish.

This is a serious, benchmark Barossa Shiraz built for impact now yet designed for the long haul — its depth, polish and power reflecting the critical acclaim the FU Shiraz name has consistently earned.
